“From Humming to Mouth Drumming” is an interactive hybrid performance/workshop of vocal experimentation. The workshop will include vocal exercises, rhythm games, and beatboxing. Participants will be encouraged to express their individuality by using their voices to create a wide array of silly and fun sounds. The performance will include demonstration, improvisation, call and response, and interactivity. Participants will experiment making sounds with their mouth on their own, and may even be called up on stage to share with the group within their own comfort level. The workshop culminates in participants working together to apply the beatboxing basics they learned to a song of their choosing, and performing for the class in small groups. Participants should expect to be laughing a lot as they make sounds they’ve never made before!
Suggested age of 12 and up (adults are more than welcome!). Participants younger than 12 can be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
