The EVAA Scholarship for Vocal Studies is designed to support individuals who are passionate about pursuing vocal training in any genre or style. This scholarship is open to anyone over the age of 18, including those enrolling or currently enrolled in post-secondary education as well as those seeking private instruction, workshops, masterclass, or mentorship. Individuals must reside in the City of Nelson or Regional District Areas D, E, F, G and H. Regardless of the genre you are exploring – pop, Indigenous, jazz, choral, classical, or any other vocal discipline – the EVAA Scholarship encourages a diverse range of applicants. The program aims to provide financial assistance up to $1,000 to help students enhance their vocal abilities. To apply, candidates must submit the following:

Application Criteria:

  1. Age Requirement: Applicants must be 18 years or older.
  2. Application Form: Individuals must submit the form below to be considered for the EVAA Scholarship for Vocal Studies (If you have any technical issues, please feel free to email echovocalartsalliance@gmail.com)
  3. Letters of Recommendation: Two letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to your musical abilities, character, and commitment to your vocal studies. Letters can be submitted through this form or via email to echovocalartsalliance@gmail.com.
  4. Recording Submission: A recorded performance that highlights your vocal talents, which will be used to assess your application.
  5. Vocal Studies Focus: The scholarship is available to individuals pursuing vocal studies in any genre or style (e.g., Pop, Indigenous, Jazz, Choral, Classical, etc.).  A brief statement indicating the specific vocal style or genre you plan to study.
  6. Program Description: A description of the value of the vocal program or instruction you plan to attend, and how it will contribute to your development as a vocalist.
  7. Vocal Experience: Either a written description, biography and/or a resumé that describes your vocal background and experience.
  8. Supporting Materials: (i.e. Letter of Recommendations, Recording Samples, Resumés etc) can be uploaded to this form or sent to echovocalartsallaince@gmail.com.

This scholarship is an excellent opportunity for emerging vocalists to receive the support they need to excel in their chosen field. 

Application Deadline:

  • Applications must be received by Echo Vocal Arts Alliance no later than May 15, 2025.
  • The successful applicant will be announced in early June.
  • If a successful applicant cannot be found, EVAA reserves the right not to award the scholarship.
