Wheel of Fortune – Consolation

Waves – Ayla Nereo
Lalin/Solstice
soloist – Soleil Babcock

Take my prayers, take them out to sea
May the waters of all worlds ye meet
Here given to you and here released
Here given as it was given me

And I listen to the waterfall fallin as a waterfall down
It comes like a waterfall fallin like a waterfall down
Listen to the waterfall fallin as a waterfall down
It comes like a waterfall fallin like a waterfall down

If you make a big enough wave it’ll come back to greet you.

In Dreams

Nella Fantasia – Ennio Morricone, lyrics- Chiara Ferrau, Arr. Audrey Snyder
Lalin/Solstice
soloists – Maria Giavedoni and Graham Jarvis-Lingard
Piano – Christoph Martens

Text in Italian. Translation:

In my imagination I see a fair world,
Everyone lives in peace and in honesty there.
I dream of souls that are always free,
Like the clouds that fly,
Full of humanity in the depths of the soul.

In my imagination I see a bright world,
Even the night is less dark there.
I dream of souls that are always free,
Like clouds that fly.

In my imagination there exists a warm wind,
That breathes on the cities, like a friend.

I dream of souls that are always free,
Like clouds that fly,
Full of humanity in the depths of the soul.

Faith Shaken

Silverlake – Moira Smiley (text. M. Smiley/Charles Wesley)

Lalin
soloist – Indie Nelson

Come, o traveler unknown whom still I hold but cannot see.
My friends have gone I am alone and in darkness you will not let me be.
With me all night you stay and stay. I wrestle till the break of day.
In vain I struggle to get free. I cannot unloose your hold.
What is the face you hide from me or how must I yield to let your will unfold?
Wrestling. I will not let you go until I know you friend or foe.

Arlington – Nicky Mehta
Lalin/Solstice
Soloists – Avie Waterfall, Amanda Creak, Kelly Vrugteveen
Piano – Christoph Martens, Guitar – Bryce Harrison, Drum – Graham Jarvis Lingard

Where do you go little bird
When it snows, when it snows
When the world turns to sleep
Do you know, do you know
Is there something in the wind
Breathes a chill in your heart and life in your wings
Does it whisper ‘start again’
Start again

Where is the sun in the night
Is it cold, is it cold
Does it feel left behind
All alone, all alone
Does it wander through the dark
Does it wait for the dawn, wish on a star
Does it stray very far
Very far

Where is your home restless wind
Is it there, is it here
Do you search for a place to belong
Search in vain, search in fear
Or is your spirit everywhere
Is your voice every tree
Your soul of the air
If there’s no home is there no death
Is there no death

Other Plans – Lisa Young

Lalin
soloist – Dominique Adams

This piece has no text. The title reminds us that just when we think we have things figured out, life seems to have Other Plans…

Desolation and Orison

Requiem – Eliza Gilkyson, Arr. Craig Hella Johnson
Pianist – Alexandra Deane

Mother Mary, full of grace, awaken.
All our homes are gone, our loved ones taken.
Taken by the sea –
Mother Mary, calm our fears, have mercy.
Drowning in a sea of tears, have mercy.
Hear our mournful plea.
Our world has been shaken,
we wander our homelands, forsaken.

In the dark night of the soul,
bring some comfort to us all –
Oh, Mother Mary, come and carry us in your embrace;
that our sorrows may be faced.

Mary, fill the glass to overflowing.
Illuminate the path where we are going.
Have mercy on us all.
In funeral fires burning,
each flame to your mystery, returning.

In the dark night of the soul,
your shattered dreamers, make them whole –
Oh, Mother Mary, find us where we’ve fallen out of grace;
lead us to a higher place

In the dark night of the soul,
our broken hearts you can make whole –
Oh, Mother Mary, come and carry us in your embrace;
let us see your gentle face, Mary.
Canto a Eleggua – Arr. Arlety Valdés, Yudelkis Lafuente, Transc. R. Montenegro, Arlety Valdés
Sung by: Dominique Adams, Allison Girvan, Tyler Isaacs-Dejong, Graham Jarvis-Lingard

This song in Yoruba is a prayer to the Orisha, Eleggua.

The word “Ashe” is repeated several times and is generally defined as “the power to make things happen”. It also refers to the spiritual life force that flows through things much like the Chinese concept of chi.

Ashe can also be used to express agreement or as a way of saying, “so let it be”.

Text in Xhosa. Translation:

The rain will return to the cloud
The clouds bring down the rain.
I will climb over fields and pastures green.
I will climb.
The painted ships float high in the air.
Like a bird I fly. I am holding on to the wind!
Like a bird I fly. I am holding on by my wings!
Come tomorrow! Come tomorrow!

The rain will clear. May it be tomorrow.
The rain will clear. The day is coming.

I fly, I fly! I swim all over the lands!
I am holding on to the wind!
Over desert sands, over gulf and bay
I fly!

Come tomorrow! Come tomorrow!
The rain will clear. May it be tomorrow.
The rain will clear. The day is coming.
The clouds will clear!
